What a year...
its the end of yet another year. overall, i think 2004 had been quite good to me. its the year when i finally started to think and learn about the more important things in life, hopefully grown up a little, at least.
Memories from 2004
started off the year at sentosa for the countdown. it was really packed over there but had a great time with my buds. the baggage counter dint have enough rooms for the large number of bags so we had to throw all our stuff into a thrash bag and hid it among the bushes. the metal detector at the entrance of the party toppled coz of the rowdy crowd.
went to powerhouse on chinese new year day for paul van dyk. it was hell good. music was great. crowd was great. there were plenty of space to dance. only negatives were that there was no proper toilet (fertilisation for the plants) and we had to leave before the end coz our fren got drunk.
started doing mods to the car. have no idea what came over me. guess it was the need for speed. installed some other misc stuff as well. total cost: around 1k. all these would not have been possible without my ang pao money, the wee bit of savings from my miserly army pay and the ERS.
drag raced with my fren, D. a/t 1.7l civic vti-s over at ulu punggol. i beat him 3 out of 4. felt damn good. m/t's pickup is definately much better than a/t's. couldnt have done it without the mods. i crave for power.
D betted on soccer and lost heavily. i had to lend him 1.5k. and that was only part of what he owed to the bookie and his frens.
saw the true colours of another fren of mine. he was a runner for the bookie and tried to get me to pay for D's lossess. wtf. juz bcoz im D's fren and the runner got to know D thru me. even brought me to see his "bosses" to sort things out. threatened me a little but thats about it. nothing happened in the end.
ORD lor!! finally ended my 2 and 1/2 years NS. had a fun time working in MINDEF. coz of the nature of the work i did, i was able to get a birds eye view of how the army operate. and theres a lot of stuff that happened that we dont see in the news. i was very fortunate to be working under bosses who are very nice, understanding and forgiving.
got a rude shock that centro closed. it was the only club that brought in good trance djs consistently. no more gatecrasher. no more scott bond. no more matt hardwick. no more agnelli and nelson. thank god liquid room is still around. good thing yukun spins there occasionally.
started on the next chapter of my life: university. lots of my frens are already there so it kinda made my settling in a little easier. made lots of new frens, hoping to make more when school starts.
played in the cjc alumni soccer match. went up against the juniors and we beat them, though my "rustiness" was apparent. havent played much since entering army. but i did score a header from a corner. hee. nice seeing all my ex-teammates again.
started driving up to malaysia without the company of my parents, im pretty confident of the roads in jb by then. had loads of fun with frens there, eating, shopping, and exploring.
got caught for bringing in cigs from msia. fine of 600+. that was the 1st time i brought in so many packets...and the 1st time i got caught. how lucky. big hole in my wallet after that. been broke ever since.
the very first time i went out with her. it was the night liverpool played man u. went for supper at river valley after picking her up.
fell in love with her looniness. her ability to take my crappiness. those small lips and that smile of hers. the way she laughs. her smooth, straight and wonderful smelling (pantene) long hair. the way she hits me whenever she sees a beatle (the car) or a mini cooper. the way her eyes light up whenever she sees chocolate, esp fondue. the way we cuddled on her couch while watching tv late at night, while hoping that her parents wouldnt see us. and i absolutely love her dog, a golden retriever. think he likes me too.
then it was exams time. i wanted to study alone coz i could study better that way, but ended up studying with her coz i missed her too much. think she felt the same way too. spent a lot of time over at west coast park's mac. dinner was usually nasi lemak from fong seng. spent a couple of days over at rideout tea garden as well,
which was where i fell asleep on her lap coz i was too tired.
she was sick. i was going to jb with my one of my buds. so before i went there, bought lunch for her. passed her whatever dvds i had so that she wont feel bored at home. bought roti boy (she loves it) for her at city sq and met her for dinner. went to eat her fave chicken chop.
went jb with her and some frens. it was the most enjoyable time i'd spent in jb so far. ate sushi. went shopping...shopping...shopping. bought lots of dvds. went to have seafood at denga bay. went back to sch to wash up, use the toilet, etc. went to wala wala at holland v to satisfy our cravings for beer. sent them all back home.
some things happened and suddenly, all the joy and laughter died. a slow painful death. last time i went out with her was at rouge. were there with another couple. drank lotsa beer. was pretty gone. she reached home at about 6am. saw her dad at her lift landing. he was either leaving for work or breakfast.
gave her flowers and some stuff that i made, for the 1st time in my whole life. never gave any of my ex flowers before. never made anything for them either. never gave them any surprises. and never written them any letters as well. she was the only one who could make me go out of the way to do so much.
actually started this blog coz of her. i was feeling rather sad and i needed an avenue to get issues off my chest. realised soon after that it is a good and convenient way to keep track of my life as well. i'll always remember this line in one of the movies starring jennifer love hewitt (my dream girl btw), "memories are all that we have". i agree. what are we without our memories?
spent a lot of time hanging out with PJ coz i was feeling really down. all the talks really helped a lot. thanks babe.
started work at clarke quay. havent worked part time since years back. quit after about 2 weeks though. earned 300+ over there.
spent part of the money i earned on some accessories for the car. that, i hope, is the last of my crazy spendings. shall not spend anymore cash on the car unnecessarily. gota start saving up.
got to meet up with my niece more often. been talking quite a bit lately. we used to chat only during chinese new year or some other special occassions. glad that we're meeting up more often and im able to get to know her a little better.
there u go...thats 2004 for me...a truly memorable year...a year i fell in love again...and then out of it...a year of impulsive spendings...a year of fines (about 800 bucks in total)...a year i wont forget...
