The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly...

went for a talk at novotel with my bro earlier today, at the expense of my weekly soccer session. i had forgotten about it so had to "put their aeroplane" at the last minute.

there were 3 speakers altogether, and they were all supposed to be world class speakers though i've neva heard of them due to ignorance on my part. ohh...i saw joe augustin there...the ex-class 95 dj i think, and some 40+ years old ch5 actor...duno his name.

anyway, the first guy talked about writing a book - too young and unwise for that. second guy was about the power of doing online marketing techniques - well...maybe...in the future. pretty content-based speeches by the first 2.

the third guy was the light-hearted interesting one...it was about how to be a world class speaker. he was funny and engaging...a great speaker no doubt.

i find this particular part very funny:

say if a speaker falls off the stage, he can make a comback by:

1) "dun mind me, its juz a stage im going through..."

2) "i shall now accept questions from the floor..."

tips and techniques aside, he mentioned some stuff that most of us already knew...but still worth being reminded of once in a while...

- life can be painful or life can be playful.
- life can be bitter or life can be better.
- we can change our attitude towards a set of circumstances.
- we never learn by being "comfortable".
- we should move towards our fears, only then can we grow.

besides those stuff...i was reminded of something else as well...

THE UGLY SINGAPOREANS

refreshments (NOT dinner) were provided during the break...think nobody knew that the trays would be re-filled once the food was gone...so there were some kiasu people stacking their plates with heaps of cakes, samosas, tarts...they cant be that hungry rite? better watch the health...
worse still...one of them was really well-dressed...seems to be some impt person in a company. sigh.

i wonder why some people simply have no common sense. after taking your kopi/teh/ice water at the dispenser, move away!!! dun juz stand there and drink...and get in the way of everyone around... sigh.

and of course...there was this "zhar bor" who was juz plain ugly...no fault of hers though. i cant bring myself to address her as a "lady" coz she wasn't refined at all. blowing her nose (loudly) in the middle of the talk...twice! and she was sitting in front of me...and that hair of hers....omg... sigh.

actually it wasnt juz the locals....there was this particular ang moh...smartly dressed...shaggy hair...pushing his way through the crowd...without a single "excuse me" or "sorry". stared at him and he looked past me... sigh.

BUT...the 2 receptionists who attended to me and bro when we arrived...man...they were HOT!! one was probably only around my age...cute looking...sweet voice...permed hair that oozes character...damn the 2 lucky bastards who got to work with them...
